Boom Artists, First Flight, Indie Theatre Community, Rep Season

News from Boomerang HQ

Hi folks…it might seem like nothing is going on at Boomerang HQ since there hasn’t been a post here in a while. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. What’s happening, you ask? Well, I’ll tell ya…

1) We are getting ready to announce our next full production, which will kick off in February 2013. We’re really excited, and can’t wait to confirm it. Soon as the contracts are totally done, expect some joyful noise from us.

2) 100 HAMILTONS is right around the corner, so you’ll be hearing lots more about the 2012 version of this annual fundraising campaign. It’s easy, it’s fun, we give out prizes, and you get to keep our company going strong. In my book, it’s the definition of “win-win”

3) The 2012 FIRST FLIGHT New Play Festival is also coming up quickly. We can confirm that the dates will be November 14th-18th, with 6 readings/presentations of exciting new work in development. All readings are free to the public, although we do ask if you would toss a little money in the donation bucket. Full lineup will be announced in early October.

and 4) we are looking toward our 15 year anniversary season in 2013, and preparing for both the biggest celebration and the biggest announcements in our history. Lots of new and interesting things coming down the pike, from new media to new ideas to new programming. We’ve grown a lot in 15 years, from our early days of doing three plays in rep for 4 performances each 1999. We got a lot to celebrate, and even more to talk about going forward.

Thanks for letting me ramble a little. As you can probably sense, I’m as inspired and excited as I’ve ever been, and I know we can’t wait to share all the upcoming news with you. It’s going to be a ton of fun.

In the meantime, here’s something I can’t stop watching and laughing at. (Honestly, sometimes running a theatre company feels like this.) Hope you enjoy it.
