Boomerang Support, donations, fundraising, How you can help

The Boomerang Community: Shay Gonen

As part of our campaign to support new play development in 2017, we’ve asked members of Boomerang’s artistic family to write about our company and what makes us unique for them. We hope that you will recognize our distinctive contribution to New York City theatre with a financial gift this holiday season. We’re challenging donors to commit to a recurring donation of $10 or $25 per month for the entirety of 2017.

But don’t take our word for it…

How does someone like me, an HR professional in a financial services company, and no background in theater, get to talk to you about the Boomerang Theatre Company?

It’s all because of a Crash!

Not a thud, or thump, or bump.

It really did all start for me with a crash…and a box.

Since I’m a geek, it made sense that when Tim Errickson, Boomerang’s artistic director, was creating something in the office we shared, that had nothing to do with either of our jobs, I got curious.

It turns out that Tim was making a crash box at work that day, and that’s what led to me joining the Boomerang board a few years later.

By proximity and osmosis, I learned, first-hand about non-profit theater. The more I learned, the more I began to understand the motivation behind these endeavors and those who choose to participate.

Along the way, I met the people of the Boomerang Theatre Company. These creative, passionate, dedicated, unrelenting, doing-art-for-arts-sake people have touched the lives of many by giving playwrights, actors, directors, producers, stage managers, fight coordinators, musicians, and other artists, the opportunity to experiment, hone their crafts, and most importantly, to bring art to you.

So, who wouldn’t want to be part of that?

And now, with the holiday season upon us, Boomerang needs your help more than ever, as they gear up for their biggest season ever.

It’s new, refreshing and exciting theater, and best of all—it’s all for YOU.

The Boomerang Theatre Company has been and still is on my must-donate list every year and it should be on your list too!

Please make a recurring monthly donation to support Boomerang’s new play programs.
