New Podcast series: Boomerang 15

Hello folks…in honor of our 15th Anniversary season, Boomerang will present a special podcast series called Boomerangbigstock-Vintage-microphone-with-dark-b-14086889 15. In the series, we’ll talk to influential people from our company’s history and discuss about their time working with us, the projects they loved, and what they’re doing now. We’re really excited to see some old friends, honor those who’ve made a difference, and share their thoughts and memories with you.

Boomerang 15 will debut in Spring 2013. Episodes will be released throughout the season.

2011-2012 Season

Casting, Podcasting, and Hoping for Good Weather

We are extremely busy here at Boomerang HQ these days…Currently we’re trying to wrap up the casting for our production of Much Ado About Nothing. We’ve had a few delays that were beyond our control, and we are just now coming to the final few calls and acceptances. We were extremely lucky to have had such a high level of talent audition for the show, and I have no doubt that this will be one of the best shows we’ve done.

The Boomerang Brain Trust works on the inaugural podcast...the world will never be the same

Also keeping us busy is all the new media and technology that we are beginning to play with this season. Admittedly, we have never been a company at the forefront of social media…we’ve dipped a toe in here or there, adopted Facebook and sent the occasional Tweet, but that’s about it. But this year, that’s changing! (Part of that change is the blog you are reading now). Last night, we recorded our first ever Boomerang podcast! It was super easy and fun, and you can expect a lot of them coming up.

The podcast is called “Life Offstage“, and will feature chats about what is happening on Boomerang’s stages and offices, what’s happening in Indie Theatre, the occasional behind the scenes peek into our shows, and frank talk about our lives as well. For a lot of us, our theatre lives and our personal lives intertwine, and this podcast will both celebrate that, laugh at that, and maybe even curse at it. (Actually, I did a lot of swearing last night, we’ll see how much makes it in). We’re also going to be drinking, and talking about what cocktails we are having while we’re recording. It should feel like you are having a drink with us at a bar, and said “Hey Boomerang, what’s going on?”

Christopher Thomasson, Sue Abbott and I will be the main voices you hear on “Life Offstage“, but you will also get plenty of guest stars as well. Christopher and I fumbled our way thru the beginning, but ended up talking for about 2 and half hours, on topics ranging from Boomerang company history, growing up in the South, dating in Wisconsin, bourbon, Rhonda Shear, our 2011 season, SNL in the 80’s and prom themes. It entertained us, and I think you’ll get a kick out of it too. Check back later this week to listen to it.

And finally, with outdoor rehearsals for Much Ado right around the corner and the weather here in NYC not all that great, I’m spending some time hoping the theatre gods bring some sunshine back this direction. We often rehearse indoors during bad weather, but you never replicate the joy and magic of being on the Boomerang Rock talking out to all of NYC. It’s a wonderful thing to feel and see, so let’s hope these clouds hit the road by the weekend.

2011-2012 Season

Boomerang 2011 is here

Hi folks…Welcome to Boomerang 2011.

When we kicked off the blog last year, we did so in the middle of our season, when things are absolutely at their CA-Raziest. So we did our lovely profile of the beautiful Synge Maher…and then nothing else.

Not this year, my friend. A new techno-savvy, social media, kick ass age of Boomerang is upon us. Upon you.

Throughout the year, you are going to get little sneak peeks at what’s going on with Boomerang, our preparation for production and insight into the people who work with us. It’s going to be a blast.

You are also going to get Twitter updates, continued Facebook information, and you will behold the glory of Boomerang’s new podcast “Life Offstage”. It will be glorious.

In the meantime, check out the new improved website and see pics and info on all 12 previous season of the company.

We’ll see you soon!
