The Boomerang Community: Amy Lee Pearsall

As part of our Holiday fundraising campaign, we’ve asked members of Boomerang’s artistic family to write about our company and what makes us unique for them. We hope that you will recognize our distinctive contribution to New York City theatre with a financial gift this holiday season. You can make any size tax-deductible donation here.

But don’t take our word for it…

Amy Lee Pearsall

Boomerang Theatre Company
comes at you from the front with the classics, and then swings around from the back with productions of exciting, original works. Whether it’s Shakespeare performed in one of our city’s beautiful parks, a revival of a period favorite, or an original play taken from table-read, to trial-run with bare minimum effects, to full-staging with elaborate costumes, this is a company that strikes from all directions and to delightful effect.

It is not an exaggeration to say that most actors that I’ve personally encountered at the AEA center, I first saw onstage in a Boomerang production.  I think there’s a reason for that. There’s a shared dedication to quality, to professionalism, and to craft between this company and the actors it attracts.

Boomerang’s passion for timeless works and boundary-pushing new plays is evident, as is its love of theatre and the indie theatre community as a whole. The company’s drive is admirable, its successful 17-year history speaks for itself, and we are all the richer for it.
